Diabetes has become an serisous public health problem worldwide, with China and India in Asia being the epicenter of this epidemic.
糖尿病已成为全球范围内严重的公共卫生危机。其中，位于亚洲的两个发展中国家——中国和印度的糖尿病患病率在过去的20年内迅速飙升，已成为全球糖尿病肆虐的重灾区。
Diabetes is ranked as the fourth leading cause of death. Chronic hyperglycemia and other accompanying risk factors such as dyslipidemia, hypertension lead to diabetic complications. Asian patients have different profile of complication , suffering from more diabetic kidney disease, but less cardiovascular disease, compared with diabetic patients in Western countries. Other disparity are largely unclear due to lacking of comparative studies. It is important to understand the characteristics of diabetic complication in Asian populations, which may lead to better understanding of the mechanisms and improve the management of patients with complications.
糖尿病是导致死亡的第四位元凶。慢性高血糖合并其他危险因素如脂质代谢紊乱、高血压等，将最终导致糖尿病并发症。与西方国家的糖尿病患者相比，亚洲糖尿病患者的并发症谱有其自身的特点，即更容易出现肾脏受损，而心血管事件相对偏少。只有理解亚洲糖尿病人群的这一特质，才能更深入地探寻其潜在机制，从根本上促进糖尿病并发症的防止与管理。
The goal of this forum is to build up a platform for discussing the microvascular complications in Asian population among diabetes researcher from Asian countries.150 doctors from India will attend this meeting.
